Online Job Hunting Organization Is Vitally Important

The advantage of online job hunting: plenty of opportunities in a number of fields and locations. The disadvantage of online job hunting? Plenty of opportunities in a number of fields and locations. If you are not keeping track of where and when you have applied and which resume you have sent to them, you may be doubling up and may be presenting two different images of yourself. In other words, you could be making yourself look deceptive and sneaky before you even get a first call back. To avoid that, it is important that you keep good records of what you are doing, including making notes of what companies you have applied to and any correspondence or contact you have had with them.

Online job hunting, lets you search in the industry or industries of your choice - without having to run around and put your application in each place individually. It also allows you to find out the local jobs that are hiring and which positions they are posting before other people get wind of it. However, with all of the convenience that it gives you, there are some concessions. Some companies just never post positions online or some may only have a partial posting of their available positions in their online forum, leaving the others for those who come in to physically fill out an application. Other companies may post a position but only accept applications filled out onsite. Each will be different, so always read the whole posting.

Before you fill out an application or send in your resume, make sure that you are getting all of the contact information. Create an online folder for all of your online job hunting activity including the dates of anything that was sent to or by you and names of any contacts from that company. If you have more than one resume that you use, it is also important to keep track of which version you are sending to these companies so that there is no confusion at all. As an additional note: make sure that no matter how many resumes you are creating and using that they are all truthful and honest.

Finally, to make online job hunting even easier, you can use the employment sites that keep job postings and openings organized in categories. These sites will even send you emailed reminders that certain jobs in your field have opened up and give you all of the information that you need to apply for them.
