Why You Should Become Your Own Boss

We all have those moments at our jobs where we think or say "If I was the boss, I would...." And that is one of the largest perks to being your own boss. We all want to be in control of our destinies and working for someone else means giving up that control. Instead of listening to the fear that will keep you in a job and letting others tell you what to do, go out and become your own boss.

Again, with being the boss comes the power to do what you want. No one can fire you, except maybe your customers, but if they are happy, you are the top dog. You get to tell your employees what to do and how to do it. You get to decide how to advertise, what demographics to target, and what to pay everyone in your company, and so much more. All those decisions are yours and it is wonderful to be in charge.

Money is another reason to become your own boss. Every business everywhere exists for one reason and one reason alone: to make money. You may love what you do and you may be a visionary in chocolate or lace, but really you are out there to make money so you can live the lifestyle you want. In a corporate job, you give your time in exchange for money, but when you're the boss you give your time to earning profits. The more profitable your business is the better you are doing at your job. And it does not necessarily mean giving up more time.

Job security is yet another reason to become your own boss. In corporate America you can be fired for almost anything, but being an entrepreneur means that you have control. Take your idea out there, and show peoples how it will help them and you are in business. Be that great eatery or a dance studio, your business is unique and only you can fill their void, but you need to show them how first.

You get to create a different lifestyle. Becoming your own boss opens you up to different things every day. Today you may be drawing up plans for a new product and tomorrow you may be showing high school kids what being a business owner is all about. The day after that you maybe serving customers and getting a feel on how you can serve them better. Each and every day is an adventure.
